What is Durham Refugee Day?
Durham Refugee Day is a day to celebrate and welcome refugees and immigrants in our community. It is a fun afternoon for the whole family with plenty of food, music, activities and booths for everyone! See Schedule page for details.
Why is Durham hosting a day for refugees?
In a February 2017 resolution, the City Council unanimously declared that Durham is open and welcoming to immigrants and refugees and “that Durham’s immigrant and refugee communities are integral to the life our city.” This resolution May 6, 2017 “Durham Refugee Day” in Durham. Since then, Durham has hosted Durham Refugee Day every year to celebrate the contributions of refugees and immigrants to our community.

Who should attend Durham Refugee Day?
Durham Refugee Day is a celebratory event that anyone can attend! Come with friends and family to show your support and welcome for our refugee community. You never know who you will meet or what you will learn!
Note: Please be mindful of bringing pets to the celebration. People from different cultures have differing levels of comfort with animals, especially big dogs.
Where is Durham Refugee Day taking place?
Durham Refugee Day will take place at Durham Central Park (501 Foster Street, Durham NC). This is the same venue as the Durham Farmers’ Market. Booths and vendors will be under the covered pavilion.
Where can we park?
Street parking is available along Foster Street, Hunt Street, Rigsbee Street, Roney Street and Corporation. The Durham Centre Deck at 300 Morgan Street is two blocks away.
